Letters and postcard written by Ed Loughlin, a seaman who deserted the whaleship CHARLES W. MORGAN at Brava, Cape Verde. Letters detail Loughlin's reason for deserting, written from St. Vincent, Cape Verde, and his signing aboard a British steamer going to Gibraltar and Naples. All correspondence is addressed to Clarence Harriman in Brockton, Massachusetts.
